Who can apply for teacher training with ALI?
Our programmes suit career changers, recent graduates and people already working in schools. Specific entry requirements vary by route - ITT and PGCE routes typically ask for a degree, while our Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship is open to those with GCSE grade 4+ in English and maths (or working towards it).
Do I need a degree?
Not always. Our teacher-training routes (ITT, PGCE, QTS) require a degree, but you can start without one through our apprenticeship routes and progress towards Qualified Teacher Status via our 2+2 or 2+1+1 pathways.
How much do the programmes cost?
It depends on the route. Apprenticeships are fully funded through the employer apprenticeship levy at no cost to you, NPQs are currently fully funded by the Department for Education, and teacher-training routes may have bursaries available. We'll talk you through funding for your chosen route.
Where will I train?
Across our hubs in southern England - Banbury, West London, Bournemouth and Weymouth - and in Aspirations Academies Trust schools. Wherever possible we place you close to home.
Will I get a job at the end?
Every successful trainee is guaranteed a job interview at an Aspirations Academies Trust school. While we can't guarantee a role, many of our trainees go on to teach within the trust.
When do programmes start?
Teacher-training routes generally start in September, while apprenticeships have a more flexible, rolling intake. Check each course page for its current start date, or contact us for the latest dates.
